I wanted to quickly recap my Friday night workout experience, then give you guys and gals a workout that is sure to kick-start your Monday, and set you up for a week of big things! So let’s get right to it…
Friday, I posted about the workout that I would be hitting later that night. If you remember, it was the Deadlift/Burpee workout from the 2008 CrossFit Games. In the video that I share with you all, the fastest time in the Games was approximately 2:41, which seemed blazing fast at the time! Well, on Friday night, I was in the very first heat and knocked out a 2:44, which I was pretty stoked about. This being the first true CF workout I had done in several weeks, I felt really good with my overall strength and conditioning.
As the night went on, the machines came out of the woodwork. Two studs from Woodward CrossFit smashed the workout in a blistering 2:08 and an even faster time of 2:04, which turned out to be the fastest of the night!
I was super impressed with the “GO-juice’ these dudes had! Turns out that what was fast in 2008 is actually a fairly regular time these days. Hhahaha. I just goes to show how fast the sport of CrossFit is growing and evolving.
What was even cooler than the strong efforts of everyone there was the show of community that filled the new DownTown CrossFit Central. It was almost like being back at The Ranch in Aromas – small, intimate, and packed full of electric energy!
One final note on the workout that I’d like to share…..That 2:44 time that I knocked out was a PR for me! The last time I did this was right before the 2012 Open. So, needless to say, I was very pumped to find out that what I’ve been doing lately(my own stuff) has me in better strength and condition than when I was training for the Open/Regionals!
Now….The weekend is over and it’s time to get a new week started and make some big things happen. In my opinion, the best way to get momentum started in your week is to knock out a quick, fun, challenging workout. And I’ve got just the one for you!
Before you hit this one, keep in mind that if you did the last SWOD that I shred with you guys – the Cluster/Lunge/Snatch/Lunge SWOD – this may not be the best option, as it has more lunges. Listen to your body and make any necessary changes so that you get a solid workout.
There it is. Get after it and make things happen!
Remember…Life happens FOR you….not TO you.
Keep that in mind as you charge forward!
